So how much does it cost to run a kiln ?
amps x volts = watts
Divide watts by 1000 to get Kilowatts
Multiple the answer by your rate for electricity That will give you the amount to heat the kiln. Once heated the heating rate drops by 30-40% so figure on 0.6 or 0.7 times the kilowatt rate.
For example:
15amp x 120 volts= 1800watts
1800watts/1000=1.8 kilowatts
1.8 kilwatts x $rate/kilowatt hour
If your rate is 17 cents/ kilowatt hour
1.8 kilwatts x $0.17/kilowatt hour=$0.31/hr to heat
and between $0.31/hr x 0.7 = $0.22 / hr and $0.31/hr x 0.6 = $0.19 / hr to keep it on

Great way to handle using a torch when firing enamels. All you need is a Mapp gas container and the torch head that comes with a short hose, available at hardware stores. You do not have to worry about the tank falling over, nor do you have to fret over where to set the hot torch nozzle when you need to set it down, there is a place for it to stay. If you need two hands to strike the striker, no problem the nozzle can sit in the nozzle holder and wait for you to light it.
Torch Holder $65.00,
