Millefiore

Vitreco™ Floral Wafers and Buttons

Small thin enamel wafers which result in delicate flowers when fired. A variety of colors.

Fire at 1500-1550° F until flat. Buttons make flowers about twice the size of wafers. Wafers are 2-4 mm dia. and spread to 5-7 mm when fired. Buttons are 5 mm dia and will spread to 7-9 mm when fired. Five gram packets contain Approximately 100 wafers or 20 buttons.

Lead Free Opalescent Enamels

Discover the "fire-luminescence" only obtainable with opalescent enamel. Available in 80 mesh white or 80 mesh blue or white lump. When fused directly onto copper it should be fired at 1500°F for approximately 4 minutes. It will appear as a well cleared transparent flux. Opalescence can be produced by reheating at 1500°F for Approximately 1-1/2 min. The time is critical. If too short no opalescence will develop and if too long the opalescence will vanish. The preferred procedure is to refire at 1400°F for 3 minutes. The opalescence develops as the ware cools. On silver, first apply a good coat of flux for silver; then apply the opalescent enamel and fire at 1400°F for 3 minutes or at 1500°F for a short time as described above. As it cools the opalescence will develop. For opalescent lumps (1) dip the lump into a solution of Klyr-Fire or other adhesive (2) place onto a fired enamel surface and allow to dry (3) fire at 1400°F for 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 minutes. Lump should be well rounded and quite opalescent.

Carefree Lusters™

Carefree Lusters™ are used as a surface application which results in a "metal flake" or "sparkle" appearance. Stabilized for glass, glazed ceramic and enameled metal applications. Supplied as a dry powder for mixing in water or oil base media. Lead-free and without toxic fumes; but avoid breathing dust. Apply by brush to dry, fused vitreous surface, air dry and fire at a pre-determined temperature. Fire at 1350°F for 3 minutes with enamels on copper, and at 1380°F for window glass. It comes in 13 colors: clear silver, silver flake, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, metallic yellow, orange, red, gold, purple and green.

These can be used as a surface application or can be covered with transparent glass. The results look like metal-flake or have a sparkle appearance. Supplied as a dry powder for mixing with water or an oil base medium. Apply by brush to a dry, fused vitreous surface, air dry and fire at a low temperature. Try 1300°F for 3 min. for enamels on copper.
